Who We Are Ossining MATTERS is a not-for-profit Education Foundation established in 2003 to raise funds for the Ossining School District. Our mission is to support and enrich the learning opportunities for all children in the Ossining School District by providing funding for projects that go beyond the scope of the school district budget. How We Work Each spring, Ossining MATTERS invites teachers at every educational level within the district to submit grant applications for projects to be implemented the following school year. We review these applications with the goal of choosing those that reach the greatest number of students, serve important needs, provide lasting impact, and best support the district’s educational goals. Ossining MATTERS also works with the administration and faculty of our schools in developing pilot programs to meet the same criteria we set for our grant applications. Where We Find our Funding Our key fundraising events include our very popular annual September Run/Walk on the Old Croton Aqueduct and our hugely successful Gala Spring Concert and Auction. Past concerts have featured internationally renowned artists Gil and Orli Shaham, the Westchester Jazz Orchestra, DBR & The Mission, and Dar Williams. We also actively solicit corporate grants and grants from other foundations. What We’ve Accomplished So Far In our first four years, thanks to the very generous support of our community, we’ve funded over 70 grants and donated more than $200,000 to the Ossining School District. The grants and projects we support are reaching students at every age level, from preschool through the high school, supporting academics, cultural arts, and health/athletics. The programs, ranging from family literacy workshops to recess chess classes, dance programs at the elementary and high school levels, fitness equipment and classroom equipment purchases, meet a wide variety of student needs and interests. How You Can Help
With your help, we can continue to make a positive difference in the education of Ossining’s students.
